A mid-19th century library or center table in the Louis XVI style by Sosthène Bellanger for Bellanger Muebles D'Art. Gorgeous walnut with ormolu mounts. One large and two small drawers with dovetailed joints. The only one of its kind known to exist. Made by hand in Paris, France. The whimsically-shaped stretcher reminds of similar designs by Henry Dasson. We have the key for the center drawer, but the lock does not currently operate. We suggest Constantine's in Oakland Park, FL to replace the missing escutcheon. Additional Condition Notes: Good. Unless otherwise noted, wear consistent with age and use. We believe the finish is original. Small cracks and dents from age and use. There is scant evidence of a repair to the stretcher. It is a very elegant repair, as seen from below. Dimensions: 26.5" (67.31cm) D x 41" (104.14cm) W x 30" (76.2cm) H
